From a Robot to Radio Waves: How We Took STEM Beyond the Classroom
When does a robotics team’s mission end? When they compete in the national championships? Or when the last screw is tightened? For us, the answer has always been the same: Never.
At Cartesian Robotics, our mission is not just to build a robot and enter competitions. Our mission is to convey the excitement behind that robot, the logic behind that code, and the value of that teamwork to those who have yet to meet robotics. This drive has pushed us beyond traditional STEM activities.
Reaching Out via Radio Waves
This season, one of our most exciting projects came to life: regular STEM broadcasts on Radio ODTÜ! It might sound unusual, but the reach of radio is incredible. By reaching thousands of listeners every week, we connected not only with tech enthusiasts but also with parents, teachers, and anyone curious about STEM. Behind the microphone, we explained the design philosophy of Cerberon, how PID loops work, and how an FTC team is managed.
Coding the Future of Türkiye
However, the deepest impact happened inside the classrooms. The low-cost STEM kits we developed reached schools all across Türkiye. Imagine the curiosity in a primary school student’s eyes when they receive the kit, or the excitement when they start a motor for the first time. This is our greatest achievement.
From mentoring two newly established FTC teams to facilitating student transitions to FRC, every outreach activity we undertake is tangible proof of our “Building Bridges” philosophy. We are working not just for our robot, but for the future engineering ecosystem of Türkiye.
